JAG - does GI endoscopy need this degree of control?

Some of you will be aware of the work of the Joint Advisory Group. The group was origiannly set up by the Colleges to set standards for training in GI endoscopy. They are now keen to extend their mantle and offer a supportive service which includes the accreditation of units performing this work. Some see the move as an unnecessary transgression into areas for which the legitimate responsibility lies elsewhere. Many see the extended role of JAG as anything from an irritation to a significant threat. Any thoughts? Have a look at the redesigned site. Many of the links don't work properly so feel free to report these - if you can be bothered. After all it's summertime and the livin' is ....
