The Triennial Conference scheduled for Thursday 6th and Friday 7th November 2008 at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, Glasgow is a new and exciting venture for the College. The event will include the Surgical Forum, Medical Forum, Dental Forum, Autumn Lung Conference and Travel Medicine Symposium under one umbrella. Programme development is well underway and invited speakers will include nationally or internationally recognised experts to provide the highest possible quality of education. Hotel Key Cards

The following message has been circulating on the net and many have been alarmed. It reads. " Ever wonder what is on your magnetic key card?

Answer:
a. Customer's name
B. Customer's partial home address
c. Hotel room number
d. Check-in date and out dates
e. Customer's credit card number and expiration date!


When you turn them in to the front desk your personal information is there for any employee to access by simply scanning the card in the hotel scanner.

Well - as is often the case, this turns out to be false. Read the details about the hoax or urban myth.

New Southern Hospital for Glasgow

The Scottish government announced Scotland's biggest ever hospital building project on 22nd April - the New Southern Hospital in Glasgow. It will be entirely publicly funded,

The outline business case for the 842 million pounds project which will see an integrated children's and adult hospital built on the site of the current Southern General Hospital. Speaking to the STUC conference in Inverness, First Minister Alex Salmond said: "This Scottish Government is determined to get value for money for the public purse and that is exactly what this deal represents.By funding the entire project through public finance, we are ensuring it is deliverable, affordable, sustainable and represents best value for money for the taxpayer."

Here is a serious site which has all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff. Ever wondered about the evidence base for some of the available therapies our patients will sample. You need to look at this. Delightfully named and full of great stuff. the site investigates questionable claims and answers inquiries about products and services. It advises quackery victims, debunks pseudoscientific claims and reports illegal marketing.
