A dozen bizarre devices
These extraordinary objects are among 2500 featured in Brought to Life , the London Science Museum 's new multimedia website exploring centuries of medical history

If you fancy a wander through the history of medicine, there's no better guide than the London Science Museum 's new multimedia website.

Launched in March, Brought to Life explores centuries of medical history, with detours through diseases, epidemics and early forms of surgery and encounters with medical pioneers - all with expert commentary from historians and curators.

The interactive stuff is fun, but better still is the chance to see thousands of extraordinary objects from the Wellcome Trust collection held by the museum. Many of these gems are kept tucked away in the museum's drawers and stores and some have never been on public display.
